Defoamers for Steel Plate Cleaning
Nov 28, 2023
In order to improve the cleaning effect and remove impurities from the surface of the steel plate during cleaning, chemical additives such as cleaning agents are added. However, it is easy to produce a lot of foam under high-pressure washing, so it will be used with steel plate cleaning antifoams.
The main reason why foam appears during steel plate cleaning is that the steel plate cleaning agent contains a large amount of surfactant, plus the entrained air which is difficult to escape due to the vibration and operation of the steel plate cleaning machine. These combined effects lead to the generation of foam.
The harm of foam in steel plate cleaning:
(1) Foam will cause poor cleaning efficiency, cover the field of view and prevent stains from being cleaned, thereby deteriorating the corrosion resistance of the metal surface, resulting in a significant decrease in the quality of the steel plate.
(2) The emergence of a large amount of foam requires increased water consumption for flushing, which not only slows down the overall process but also increases costs.
(3) When foam accumulates and overflows, it will damage the circulation equipment, reduce its service life, and affect the surrounding environment.
How to choose steel plate cleaning defoaming agents?
Defoamers for steel plate cleaning should be selected with good compatibility and will not precipitate, float oil, or demulsify, etc.; it can stably eliminate foam under strong acid, alkali or high temperature conditions, and will not stick to the edge of the drum or settle on the bottom of the drum after precipitation; it also needs to defoam quickly, have good foam suppression effect, and will not generate foam again.
