Paper Sizing Defoamer
Dec 04, 2023
In the pulping and papermaking process, a series of operations after cooking and discharging, such as washing, screening, bleaching, concentration, pulp supply system, surface sizing, coating, black liquor recovery, etc., are all affected by foam to varying degrees. Today Rickman will mainly share with you surface sizing.
What is surface sizing?
Surface sizing is a procedure in the paper processing process. By covering with chemicals, a layer of glue film is formed on the surface of the paper through subsequent drying to improve the surface properties of the paper. There are two methods of paper sizing: on-machine sizing and off-machine sizing.
Where does surface sizing foam come from?
(1) The paper sizing glue used in the blending process contains some surfactant components during the preparation process, which causing the glue is easy to foam.
(2) There are temperature and humidity problems in the operating environment during the production of glue.
(3) The problem of mixing process in the glue production process, so that improper operation is easy to make foaming substances into it. The production process is more likely to cause foaming.
Dangers of bubbles:
The foam appearing in the sizing process will not only lead to uneven sizing, because the paper part of the ink penetration is strong, it can not achieve the ideal anti-friction effect.
The foam will also cause the surface of the adhesive material is not uniform, because part of the surface of the adhesive material is too little, so that the printing process of the paper absorbs too much ink into the binder; or part of the surface of the adhesive material too much, slow down the ink drying speed, easy to rub dirty.
Bubble problem solution:
It is recommended to use papermaking defoaming agent, which has fast defoaming performance, long-lasting foam suppression, good compatibility, and can function well in high temperature, strong acid and alkali environments.
